This guide walks you through the steps to set up a new email account on an Android device.

1. Launch your email app

Open the mail application by selecting the mail icon from your apps screen.

2. Enter your email address and password

Choose Manual Setup.

3. Select the account type

Choose POP or IMAP (IMAP is the default).

Incoming server settings

  1. The program may attempt to connect to the server but may fail initially. You will need to enter your full email address as the Username.

Verify the following settings:

  • POP/IMAP server: mail followed by your domain name (e.g., mail.example.com)
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 993 for IMAP or 995 for POP
    Select Next.

Outgoing server settings

  1. Enter the relevant details as shown on the screen:
  • SMTP server: smtp followed by your domain name (e.g., smtp.example.com)
  • Security type: None
  • Port: 587
    Select Next.

6. Wait for the outgoing server settings to be tested.

Account options

  1. Adjust additional account options as needed.

8. Specify your account name

Enter an optional account name (for reference) and the name you wish to display on outgoing emails. Then select Done.

Complete setup

  1. The account will be set up successfully, and your messages will begin downloading.
